Guided birdwatching trip
Saturday 5th - Wednesday 9th June 2021

RSPB South Stack, a stunning backdrop to our exciting birdwatching
This is a five-day birding tour in North Wales.
Early June is one of the most exciting times for birdwatching in
North Wales. We can enjoy the busy breeding season with summer migrants here as well as all the special resident birds enjoy! North Wales offers the birdwatcher a wonderful
mix of habitats from high mountains, across moors, through woodlands, reedbeds, lakes, marshes, seacliffs and estuaries, all with exciting birds to enjoy. This is an exclusive tour with just six participants with two guides, Alan and Ruth.

Stonechats are resident in North Wales and we will encounter them on our trip.
Our five day Birdwatching Trip will be based at the lovely
Princes Arms Hotel in the scenic Conwy Valley where the birdwatching begins from your bedroom window! The wonderful food here is another highlight of this trip, you will not go hungry! The tour includes all meals from lunch on day one to lunch on day five.

Goosander can be seen on the river from the hotel windows.
Itinerary
Day One
Our tour starts with arrival at the Princes Arms Hotel in the picturesque Conwy Valley in time for lunch. After lunch we visit RSPB Conwy where we can expect to enjoy warblers, waders and wildfowl at close range.
Day two
We visit the beautiful island of Anglesey with its dramatic coastal scenery. Chough and Black Guillemot will be high on our wanted list but we will also look for migrants, raptors and seabirds. A visit to RSPB South Stack will be one of the highlights on this day to see the seabird colony. We will also visit a noisy tern colony where the mix of habitats attracts a lot of birds, a busy day for sure!
Day three
A short drive takes us to the Great Orme headland with its dramatic sea-cliffs and limestone pavements. This Local Nature Reserve has a track record for turning up the unexpected while the cliffs here are home to nesting seabirds. We also visit other sites along the nearby coast for more waders, wildfowl, warblers and migrants.
Day Four
An early start will see us on the moors to witness Black Grouse displaying a breath-taking spectacle and many other exciting species are possible in this wild landscape. We head east to the Dee Estuary in search of more raptors, wildfowl and waders and who knows, perhaps a Great White Egret or other scarce bird; at this time of year, anything is possible! A visit to RSPB Burton Mere will be part of this exciting day.
Day Five
We spend the morning exploring the Conwy Valley woodlands and adjacent uplands. In the woods we hope to enjoy Pied Flycatchers, Wood Warblers and Common Redstarts among many others. If we are lucky we may encounter Ring Ouzels and Dipper. We return to the hotel for lunch before guests depart for their homeward journey at the end of our North Wales tour.
The exact itinerary may change due to latest bird information, weather, tides or other circumstances beyond our control.
We will be in touch with all the latest bird news to ensure we see the most exciting birds around, expect the unexpected! We will be sure to enjoy plenty of wonderful birds during the five day trip.

Exciting migrants could include a confiding Wheatear.
