A New Year Challenge 200 Species Of British Birds In One Year

Corn Bunting was an early bird for our 2023 "My 200 Bird Year" challenge - great bird for us to see.
How’s 2023 going for you? How many species of birds have you seen so far? You might be surprised to see just how many if you total them up. Our great friends at Birdwatching Magazine are again organising a fun challenge for their readers to see if they, the readers, can see 200 British birds in a single year. Why not give it a go? Just for fun and it adds a bit of focus to your bird watching and perhaps a little extra impetus to get out and see what is about? Another great advantage is that it encourages us to visit a variety of habitats to seek out species we may not have seen on our regular walks and outings. You can set your own rules too, do a green 200 perhaps on foot or bike, set an area to record the birds in, for example your home county or like us record any species you enjoy anywhere in the UK. No prizes, all for fun and joy of watching wild birds. Give it a go!

All birds are equal on "My 200 Bird Year" so our first bird Blackbird counts the same as Corn Bunting!
You can find out much more about “My 200 Bird Year” in Birdwatching Magazine and read Ruth’s monthly article of course. Good luck with your 200 year and the main thing is to simply enjoy watching birds wherever you are. Be great to hear how your year is progressing and of course we can help boost the numbers on our trips!
We run our Birdwatching Trips throughout the year a mix of set departure tours and custom-made trips perfect for you! To book your custom tour or any of our set departure trips please email us here….
