Birding highlights in Uganda

Brown-throated Wattle-eye male, it's the female who has the brown throat!
We enjoyed so many exciting birds on our first two-week tour of Uganda with 489 species on the list that it's hard to single out specific highlights, it's a tour of highlights! Shoebill has to be the number one highlight, and given the amazing response that our video footage on Twitter has received, it's clear that lots of other people agree. Over 151,000 views of the video clip of this impressive bird, watched all over the world and still rising, and if you've not yet seen it, please do check out our Twitter feed on @biggesttwitch.
But apart from the Shoebill, we have been enjoying pleny of great birds along the way, and here are just a few of our favourites:

White-spotted Flufftail, a bird that skulks in damp or flooded forest areas, and tricky to photograph in low light

In contrast, this Blue-throated Roller posed in full sunshine

Temminck's Courser, one of the star birds at Queen Elizabeth National Park

Black Bee-eater, what a stunner

Malachite Kingfisher, a bird we saw regularly on our boat rides, but not all perched as obligingly as this individual

Yellow-billed Stork on the shores of the Kazinga Channel
Lots more biridng adventures to come, so please check back for more.
