Crossbill showing off for the crowd
Today we headed deep into the Scottish Highlands to enjoy some wild scenery and top quality birds. Raptors put on awonderful show for us with seven species of bird of prey being enjoyed. Perhaps THE highlight was three encounters with a pair of Golden Eagles, allowing us prolongued views of these winged monarchs of the glens! The supporting cast consisted of Goshawk, Merlin, Kestrel, Peregrine, Common Buzzard, and Red Kite, but there was much more. We enjoyed frame-filling views of Common Crossbills feeding above our heads, Brambling amongst a large flock of Chaffinches, Dipper and Goosander on the fast-flowing river, a lovely flock of some 40 Redpolls along with Long-tailed Tits and Coal Tits. And it wasn't just birds that we enjoyed today: we had super views of a mountain hare, two roe deer and at least 60 red deer. All this amongst some of the most beautiful scenery Britain has to offer, and we didn't get wet!
We'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and bird- and wildlife-filled New Year.

A wonderful place to enjoy fantastic birds and wildlife. Come and join our tour here in March 2023!
